The TLCDC performance at the 2020 Khelo India University Games opening

The Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company put together a spectacular show for the Opening of the Khelo India University Games 2020 in Odisha last month. Our fantastic dancers showcased an impressive display of talent and skill for the Odisha CM Shree Naveen Patnaik, other dignitaries and 5000 spectators. Gravity-defying acrobatics with high lifts and fast throws, soaring aerial acts, intricate formations - the TLCDC worked with 300 local dancers to rock the stadium and send the launch event of the Games sky-rocketing!

The large majority of the dancers in the Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company and in the show (as with all shows performed by us) are alumni of the Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute. The top deserving students who complete the diploma in dance certification are admitted into the Performance Scholarship Programme (PSP), which gives them the chance to gain practical stage experience, earning while they learn the processes of creating a stage-show in the professional context. This is a fantastic opportunity for young aspiring dancers to share the stage with the top performers in the country and learn from them. And of course, in time many of them go on to become seniors in the Company and become role models for future generations!
